Destination: Gilligan’s Island

Today was another picture perfect day in paradise.

A few months back I decided to be braver than I have been in the past.  I am a strong swimmer but have never done kayaking until last week.

I’m hooked.

As you can tell I was the pack mule on this trip.  It wasn’t a problem-I’m just counting on a few extra kudos from you for being brave AND hard-working.  How am I doing?

I was the designated pack mule for the trip. Just lucky, I guess.

Nothing but open water ahead.  We had a destination in mind. A small current but nothing we future Olympians couldn’t handle. The guy on the left is a different hooligan than our tour guide from last week.

It is a GREAT BIG body of water out there. No land in sight. At least from this vantage point.

We made it to land, beached the kayaks and did a short exploration of Gilligan’s Island. Sadly, we didn’t see the Professor, the Skipper or any other crew members.

We did, however, find a fire ring with smoldering embers and a tree swing.

Evidence of life.

This was beautiful but scary.

It was a narrow passage, there was a kayaker coming towards us and I was a little freaked about what might be above us or on either side of us.  I felt every bit as tense as I appeared but all was well.

Yep, I was as scared as my tense body language indicates. There could be snakes and creepy things up ahead.

My purpose in sharing these photos and comments is not to make you jealous.

I promise.

I want to encourage you to try something new-maybe something you’ve been afraid to tackle. If you’re physically able and your weather permits get outside and do something. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Who knows? You might find the crew of Gilligan’s Island in YOUR area.
