Today I went to a home improvement store and bought myself something I’ve wanted for decades.
Electric hedge trimmers. I will admit that we don’t have many hedges around our home. As a matter of fact, we don’t have any hedges. There are plenty of other plants to trim though. After doing a bit of research I picked out just the tool I wanted. Off I went to our local home improvement store and made my purchase.
Maybe you think I’m a little weird for being thankful for hedge trimmers. It really is about so much more than the yard equipment.
I have a home. That alone is a reason to be thankful.
My arms are strong enough to wield a power tool. Granted, tomorrow has not yet arrived and so I’ll have to get back with you on if my arms are still working. But for today I had the strength and energy to spend 5 hours doing yard work and still do zumba tonight.
The store where I bought the shears is less than 10 minutes from my home. I had a car to drive there and the money to buy the trimmers.
There was a slight breeze. We don’t always have that at this time of year. When I needed a break I had clean water to drink.
Being outside helped me to spend time thinking about and praying for loved ones that are going through tough times. It also was a good time of reflection about our neighbors and how special it is to live on a street where people are kind and helpful. We all know that isn’t true of a lot of places.
The yard looks decent, I didn’t electrocute myself by accidentally cutting the cord. Not one spider or snake made an appearance the entire time.
All reasons to celebrate another Thankful Thursday!
Care to chime in? What are you thankful for today?
