It’s been a tough week around this seemingly ordinary home. Nothing life threatening or earth shattering. Stress associated with decisions that must be made and unexpected circumstances.
Pondering the possibilities I realized that I can save myself a whole lot of worry if I focus on this moment of this day.
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34 NLT
This may not sound all that encouraging on the surface.
Good news: We’re told not to worry about tomorrow.
Seemingly bad news: Tomorrow will bring its own worries.
Well now THAT is something to look forward to.
UNLESS I stop and consider that the things about which I am worried might happen tomorrow may never even come to fruition.
If I choose to live gratefully in this moment I am able to enjoy this moment. Why would I want to squander this moment worrying about something that may or may not happen?
Worrying about what might happen tomorrow won’t change tomorrow. Being grateful today will make this day more pleasant, though.
There have been sweet special moments to be enjoyed every day this week-meeting a college roomie and her lovely daughter for breakfast, celebrating birthdays, watching the waves, a beautiful sunset when rain was forecasted.
On this Thankful Thursday I am grateful that the choice is mine. Worry about tomorrow or enjoy this moment? I’m going with the latter.
